Michael B. Buckley Michael is an AV rated trial attorney who has tried over 100 jury trials. He has successfully handled a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, personal injury cases, insurance and employment matters, products liability, coverage litigation, “bad faith”/excess liability litigation and class actions.
For example, Michael has been involved in high profile cases such as In re: Crash of American Airlines Flight 965 at Cali, Columbia; In re: Crash of Delta Flight 191; Billian v. Mobile Corp., a large commercial fraud case that was successfully tried to a jury in Stuart, Florida and subsequently made significant new appellate law; Zazio v. Wells Fargo, a negligent security case involving a decapitation successfully tried to a defense verdict in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Gee v. BDO Seidman, an accountant malpractice case resulting in a $16 million verdict in Miami; Rock & Fill Corp. v. Tarmac of America, a commercial fraud and breach of contract case successfully tried to a jury in Miami; Halpeny v. Allianz Ins. Co., a class action coverage case in federal court in Tampa; America Health Care, Inc. v. Dun & Bradstreet, Inc., a commercial libel case which was successfully tried to a jury in federal court in Miami; American Somax Ventures v. ExxonMobil et. al., a five-week long complex commercial case tried to a jury in Palm Beach County, Florida; Goldsmith Motors v. Chase Manhattan Bank, a commercial fraud case successfully tried to a jury in Queens, New York; Kaplan, LLC v. Getty, a Petroleum Marketing Practices Act case, successfully tried to a jury in federal court in Uniondale, New York; Allianz Global Risks v. Travelers Indem. Co., a complicated coverage case successfully tried in Nassau County, New York; the Bhopal litigation for Union Carbide; and Michael was instrumentally involved in representing the plaintiff in a wrongful death case arising out of the space shuttle Challenger disaster.
Michael graduated magna cum laude in 1979 from Rutgers University and magna cum laude from New York Law School in 1982 where he served on the Law Review.
Michael is a member of the bars of the states of New York and Florida and actively practices and tries cases in both states. He is also a member of the federal courts in both states, as well as the federal Ninth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Michael is a member of the Defense Research Institute; the New York County Lawyers’ Association; and the Lawyer-Pilots’ Bar Association.
Michael is a frequent lecturer and has authored various articles and papers for seminars.
